Christmas Food Boxes

It is the time of year that we ask for contributions for the annual Christmas Food Boxes. This year the Women of Hope are studying “The Hidden Hand of God”.  Our mission statement is:  To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus ChristThe “hidden hand of God” encourages the Women of Hope to give generously of their time, love, and possessions by acting boldly on their faith to help others.  We are asking for your help.

Each December names of families are submitted to the Women of Hope by Pastor Mark and Pastor Phil, Cass County Social Services, Lutheran Social Services, Public Health, NWIOIC (Northwest Indian Opportunities Industrialization Center), Faith in Action and Kinship.  It becomes a combined effort to reach those in need.  God’s hand has allowed the Women of Hope to act boldly to help families.

Many give money which provides groceries and grocery gift cards to fill the boxes.  Many bring food items while others help pack the boxes.  The quilters generously give beautiful quilts and fleece blankets are made and given to the younger people in a family.  The agencies deliver the boxes to the recipients.  It is truly a gift of love.

Are you able to help the Women of Hope provide boxes for families?  Checks can be left in the church office or in the offering plate.  Please write checks to the Women of Hope with a memo: Christmas Food Boxes.   Non-perishable food items can be placed in the grocery cart in the narthex or on the tables at the rear of Fellowship Hall starting November 8 through December 11. Help packing the boxes will be needed on Saturday, December 13.

FREE BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are given by Hope’s Parish Nurses on the first and third Sunday of each month, between morning services (9:30 a.m.) in the church office.  Stop by on November 2nd or 16th if you’d like your blood pressure checked.
